Police arrests 06 drug peddlers; Contraband substances recovered

Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Police have arrested 06 drug peddlers in Sopore, Kupwara & Baramulla and recovered contraband substances from their possession.

In Sopore, a police party headed by In-charge Police Post Fruit Mandi under the supervision of SDPO Sopore Shri Sarfaraz Bashir-JKPS and SHO Police Station Sopore at a checkpoint established near Fruit Mandi Sopore apprehended 03 persons. They have been identified as Mohsin Manzoor Gojree son of Manzoor Ahmad Gojree resident of Noorbagh Sopore Imtiyaz Ahmad Najar son of Ghulam ud Din Najar resident of Nowpora Kalan Sopore and Ali Mohammad Lara son of Mohammad Amin Lara resident of New Colony Sopore. During search, 20 grams of contraband brown sugar like substance was recovered from their possession.

Meanwhile in Kupwara, a police party of Police Post Khurhama at a checkpoint established at T-Chowk Kuligam intercepted a suspicious person identified as Aijaz Ahmad Khan son of Gh Hassan resident of Dudi Dapal A/P Gagal Lolab. During search, 72 grams of charas-like substance wrapped in corn husk was recovered from his possession.

In Baramulla, a police party headed by SHO Police Station Uri at a checkpoint established at Bandi Crossing, intercepted a person identified as Faizal Ahmad Khan son of Reyaz Ahmad resident of Paranpeelan. During search, 30 grams of charas and 1.5 Kgs of cannabis powder like substances were recovered from his possession.

Similarly, a police party headed by SHO Police Station Baramulla at a checkpoint established at Veerwan Baramulla, intercepted a person identified as Farooq Ahmad Lone son of Ali Mohd resident of Heewan Sheeri. During search, 50 grams of charas like contraband substance was recovered from his possession.

All the accused persons have been arrested and shifted to respective police stations where they remain in custody. Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations and investigation have been initiated.
