Jammu and Kashmir’s Ganderbal district Police have apprehended a woman on suspicion of jewellery theft from her sister’s house, media reports said.
Kaiser Ahmad Waza from Tawheed Chowk Ganderbal lodged a complaint alleging that his sister-in-law, who had been staying as a guest, pilfered gold ornaments from his room’s locker.
A case was registered under relevant sections at Police Station Ganderbal, prompting an investigation. A dedicated police team, aided by technological assistance, tracked down the suspect at Hari Singh High Street, Srinagar. Following initial interrogation, the accused admitted to the theft, disclosing that she sold the stolen items for cash. Subsequently, police recovered Rs 1,85,500 in cash and a scooter based on her disclosure.
