Police arrested six drug peddlers in District Baramulla.

Police said on Monday they had seized charas and brown sugar from six drug dealers arrested in Jammu and Kashmir’s Baramulla district.

Police, during the Kachwa Muqam Chandoosa investigation, arrested a drug dealer named Amir Hussain Dar, a resident of Wagoora, and seized 50 grams of Charas-like substance from him.

The police said that the suspect was taken into custody immediately. Another drug dealer, identified as Parvaiz Ahmad Lone from Ferozpora, Tangmarg was arrested during a routine inspection in Ferozpora Tangmarg with 30 grams of illegal substance like Charas.

Police similarly arrested Abdul Hameed Najar, a Goshbugh resident drug dealer who was traveling from Durhama to Kreeri with drugs in a plastic bag.

After seeing the police line, he tried to flee the scene but was deftly caught. A search of the bag found 4 kg of banned poppy straw and 1 gram of brown sugar.

The police also arrested a drug dealer named Manzoor Ahmad Hajam of Tarhama Kunzer, who was traveling from Hardu Aboora to the Hardu Aboora Bridge and was arrested when he saw the guards trying to flee the scene.

During the search, 25 grams of smuggled Chara type drugs were seized. Two drug dealers residing in Janbazpora Baramulla and identified as Reyaz Ahmad Khan and Tariq Ahmad Khan were arrested during the investigation.

The couple was traveling from Chakloo to Baramulla,  they tried to flee the scene when saw Police but were arrested. During his personal searches, 85 grams of illegal Chara-like drugs were found.

Police said 4,444 cases were registered at relevant police stations under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and investigations were launched.

Police stated that the people of the region are satisfied with the efforts of the Baramulla police and they are willing to support the police in eliminating the drug scourge in the society.
