Police on Friday said they have arrested two non-local drug peddlers in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district and recovered a huge quantity of contraband substance from their possession.”On 29.09.2023 at about 1530 hours, Police party headed by SHO Police station Qazigund during patrolling intercepted two persons – identified as Balwinder Singh son of Dailaish Kumar, a resident of Shairiwala Ludhiana, Punjab and Harvinder Singh son of Joginder Singh, a resident of Walipor Khurad Ludhiana, Punjab – who were roaming in suspicious condition along with luggage bags,” said police.
They said that after noticing the police party the duo tried to flee from the spot, but were chased and apprehended tactfully.
“After checking their luggage bags, officers present were able to recover 19 kgs of poppy straw like contraband substance, they added.
Meanwhile, police registered a case with FIR No. 213/2023 under sections of 8/15, 29 of NDPS act at police station Qazigund and further investigation was taken up.
