Prime Minister Narendra Modi will tomorrow lay the foundation stone for redevelopment of 553 Railway Stations under the Amrit Bharat scheme which includes improving facilities by developing rooftop plazas and city centres at stations and nearly 1,500 road over bridges and under bridges across different States and UTs including Jammu and Kashmir during a function that will be conducted virtually at more than 2,000 Railway Stations and function sites.
The Prime Minister will lay foundation stone for development of Katra, the base camp of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Ji shrine, in Reasi district of Jammu region, as Amrit Railway Station and construction of overhead bridge at Vijaypur in Samba district, virtually.
Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh will attend the function at Katra while Lok Sabha Member from Jammu Jugal Kishore Sharma will be present at the function at Vijaypur.
The Prime Minister and Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw will join the function via videoconferencing.
The Amrit Railway Stations will have modern passenger amenities such as roof plazas, beautiful landscaping, inter-modal connectivity, a modern facade, kids’ play area, kiosks and food courts.
The stations will be redeveloped as environment and Divyang-friendly and the design of these buildings will be inspired by local culture, heritage and architecture, it said.
Vijaypur over bridge will help a population of around 50,000 people in the adjacent villages.
