“PM Modi’s First Kashmir Election Rally: Multi-Layer Security at Sher-e-Kashmir Park”

The area around Sher-e-Kashmir Park in Srinagar has been placed under tight security in preparation for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s election rally scheduled for Wednesday. This will be Modi’s first rally in support of BJP candidates in Kashmir ahead of the assembly elections in the Union Territory, set for later this month.

Inspector General of Police (IGP) V. K. Birdi mentioned that a multi-layered security setup has been implemented, in line with the Standard Operating Procedure for such high-profile events. The venue is located near the Lal Chowk clock tower, and security has been heightened throughout the surrounding area.

Police and paramilitary forces have set up numerous checkpoints, conducting random vehicle inspections, while patrols have been increased as part of an area domination exercise. Birdi also noted that regular travel advisories will be issued to minimize disruption for the public. This will mark the Prime Minister’s third visit to Kashmir this year, following a rally at Bakshi Stadium in March and his participation in International Yoga Day at the SKICC in June.
