Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday condoled the loss of lives in the tragic J&K’s Ramban road accident and announced an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh from the PM’s National Relief Fund to the next of the kin of each of deceased and Rs 50,000 for the injured.
Ten people were killed on Friday after a passenger taxi rolled down a deep gorge on the Jammu and Srinagar National Highway.
In a post on X, PMO India said, “PM Modi has expressed grief on the accident in Ramban, Jammu and Kashmir. He extends condolences to the bereaved families and prays for a quick recovery of the injured.”
“An ex-gratia of Rs. 2 lakh from PMNRF would be given to the next of kin of each deceased. The injured would be given Rs. 50,000”, the post reads.
“A passenger taxi rolled down a deep gorge on the Jammu-Srinagar national highway near Battery Chashma in Ramban area. Police, SDRF and civil QRT Ramban reached on spot, rescue operation is going on,” J&K Police posted on X.
