PM Modi addresses over 50 lakh BJP workers virtually, calls for end to freebie culture

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday addressed over 50 lakh BJP workers via video conferencing, exhorting them to strengthen booth-level campaigning for the coming Karnataka Assembly election and making a strong pitch against the “revdi culture” (culture of distributing freebies).

PM Modi criticised the Congress party, stating that its guarantees hold no meaning when the party’s own warranty has expired. The PM was speaking about the Congress’s poll promises in Karnataka, which include providing free power, rice, and financial assistance to various groups of people.

PM Modi also highlighted that such freebies lead to the accumulation of debt in states and stressed that the country and its governments cannot function in this manner.

“In our country, some political parties have made politics the means of power and corruption. To achieve this, they are using all means like ‘saam, dham, dhand, bedh’. These political parties don’t think about the future of the country, future generation of Karnataka, its youth, women,” PM Modi said.
