A fresh batch of pilgrims embarking on the Amarnath Yatra was halted in Jammu on Monday due to adverse weather conditions.
A pilgrim from Delhi mentioned that they were stopped at the base camp today but might be able to proceed tomorrow. He noted that adequate arrangements were made for those who couldn’t start the yatra today. “All the pilgrims were stopped due to the weather. We hope to leave tomorrow. The stay arrangements here are satisfactory,” he said.
Another pilgrim, Amit Kumar Jaiswal, confirmed that they were supposed to depart today but were delayed due to the weather, praising the arrangements at the base camp.
Mohan Lal Kumawat, another pilgrim, added, “We were scheduled to leave early this morning, but we have been informed that we will depart tomorrow due to the weather conditions. We are eagerly waiting to proceed.”
Earlier, a batch of pilgrims had left the Srinagar base camp towards Pahalgam for the yatra on Sunday morning.
Despite the disruptions caused by the bad weather, pilgrims expressed their satisfaction with the arrangements and hoped for an improvement in weather to continue their journey.
The Amarnath Yatra, organized by the Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board, follows two routes: one through Pahalgam and another through Baltal in the Ganderbal district of Kashmir. Baltal serves as a camping ground for pilgrims.
The yatra, which officially commenced on June 29 from the Baltal and Pahalgam base camps, is set to conclude on August 19.
