The Centre has ordered all states and UT’s to ensure the availability of anti-rabies serum at every Public Health Clinic, both in urban and rural areas.
“The Financial support will be provided for the procurement of the anti-rabies serum under the National Healthy,”Centre said.
Anti-rabies serum is used to provide passive immunity against rabies in post-exposure prophylaxis of individual, when exposed to the disease or virus after contact with a rabid animal or an animal presumed to be rabid.

A NHM official in a letter to all the states and UT’s, stated that rabies is a deadly viral infection spread to people from the saliva of infected animals. Prevention is important to save families from infection.
Easy availability of medicines in every Public Health Centre will cure this cause. The letter also mentioned the need to ensure availability of sickle cell anaemia drug (Hydroxyurea), anti-haemaphilla factor VII.
