Aman Zutshi

A petrol and diesel crisis has hit Jammu hard on Tuesday as petrol pumps have gone dry because the truck driver have called a strike to protest against new law on hit and run cases of the union govt, which grants punishment of up to 10 years or a fine of Rs 7 lakh for drivers who cause a serious road mishap by negligent driving and run away without informing the police or any official from the local govt.

Truck drivers stopped work and have parked their vehicles to register their resentment against a provision in the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita which gives punishment of up to 10 years or a fine of Rs 7 lakh for drivers who cause a serious road mishap by negligent driving and run away without informing the police or the local govt.

Several truck operators yesterday were seen asking the other  transporters in Jammu to stop work and join their protest. The truck drivers also observed a one day strike yesterday which has now entered in the second day.
