Petitioners in Srinagar Labour Court Face Unwarranted Delays, Seek Urgent Attention

Srinagar, Dec 26, KNT: Thousands of cases remain unresolved at the Labour Court in Batamaloo, Srinagar, leaving many workers frustrated and burdened by prolonged delays.

Petitioners claim that the lengthy wait for justice has significantly impacted their lives and livelihoods, with hearings being repeatedly postponed without resolution.

The delay is being attributed to the overwhelming workload of Regional Deputy Labour Commissioner, who currently holds multiple additional responsibilities.

Workers allege that these extra charges prevent him from dedicating sufficient time to the court.

Some of the petitioners said that the continuous postponement of hearings for month after month is disheartening.

He said the delay in cases takes an emotional and financial toll on those awaiting justice. “The system’s inefficiency undermines the very purpose of the Labour Court, which was established to provide timely justice to workers,” said the petitioners.

They urged authorities to relieve the Regional Deputy Labour Commissioner of his additional duties, enabling him to focus solely on resolving the pending cases.
