Paris Olympics: Swapnil Kusale Wins Bronze, India’s 3rd Medal at the Games

Shooter Swapnil Kusale secured India’s third medal at the Paris 2024 Olympics with a bronze in the men’s 50m rifle 3 positions event. Kusale achieved a score of 451.4 points in the final at the National Shooting Center in Châteauroux, making him the first Indian to medal in this event. His performance marked a historic moment as it’s the first time Indian shooters have won three medals in a single Olympics.

The 50m rifle 3 positions event requires competitors to shoot in kneeling, prone, and standing positions, with elimination shots determining the final standings. Kusale’s path to the podium included overcoming a slow start in the kneeling position, where he scored 50.8 and 50.9 in the first two series, before improving to 51.6 in the third series. His ability to perform under pressure in the prone and standing positions secured his place among the top shooters.
