Moin Ul Islam

Srinagar, June 11 (Gulistan News): CPI(M) General Secretary M.A. Baby on Tuesday described the April 22 terror attack in the Besran Valley of Pahalgam as a major security lapse and called for a special session of Parliament to address the prevailing situation in Jammu and Kashmir.

He was speaking during a convention held in Srinagar focused on constitutional rights and regional security.

While addressing the media, M.A. Baby said, “It is very unfortunate that the Pahalgam attack on April 22 happened, he said that the terrorists are using the Pahalgam attack to divide Kashmir and India this must be condemned.

“We need to be more careful in responding to the security lapses that led to the murder of innocent people in Pahalgam.” he stated.

He pointed out that there was a joint meeting of the unified command between security officials in Kashmir. “Even CM Omar Abdullah was not allowed to participate in security meetings concerning the state,” he added.

He further said, “The democratic rights of the people of Jammu and Kashmir were taken away by the abrogation of Article 370 and Statehood. It has not been restored. “There has to be a special session of Parliament to discuss all these matters,” M.A. Baby demanded during the convention in Srinagar.

He strongly supported the revival of political and democratic rights in Jammu and Kashmir, asserting that only a democratically elected government can truly represent the aspirations of the people.
