Kupwara, February 2, 2025: The Ministry of Education Government of India, in collaboration with the Department of Samagra Shiksha, Jammu & Kashmir, successfully conducted the ULLAAS Examination in Kupwara district, providing educational opportunities to individuals who have never attended school.

As part of this significant step toward inclusive education, over 458 examination centers were set up across the district, accommodating approximately 8,200 candidates. This initiative reflects the government’s commitment to bridging the educational gap and ensuring that no individual is deprived of learning opportunities.

The Education Department, along with the district administration and local authorities, closely monitored the examination process to ensure smooth and transparent conduct. The overwhelming response from participants highlights their enthusiasm to integrate into the formal education system.

Speaking on the occasion, District Nodal Officer, ULLAAS, Javid Abdullah stated, “This initiative marks a milestone in our mission to provide education for all. The response from the participants has been highly encouraging, and we remain committed to strengthening efforts for inclusive education in the region.”

The ULLAAS Examination is part of a broader initiative under the Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan to promote literacy and provide non-formal education to individuals facing socio-economic barriers to schooling. Chief Education Officer (CEO) Kupwara, Principal DIET Kupwara, DEPO Kupwara, and ZEOs, along with Zonal Coordinators, closely monitored the assessment centers set up for the Second Foundational Literacy and Numeracy Assessment Test.

People from all walks of life expressed their satisfaction and gratitude to the government and the education department for launching such a transformative literacy initiative
