‘Losing is good at times’: Hardik: India suffered their first-ever five-match T20I series loss against West Indies on Sunday, August 13, as Hardik Pandya’s side were defeated in the fifth match of the series. Windies made the Men in Blue work hard in the series, and despite their best efforts, they were unable to recover from a 2-0 deficit. West Indies won the series 3-2 with an eight-wicket triumph in the fifth T20I in Lauderhill led by Brandon King and Romario Shepherd. India’s T20I skipper opened up about the setback, stating that these games were centred on learning and that not getting the desired outcome does not always matter.

The T20 World Cup in 2024 will be held in the West Indies and the United States, but Pandya is not looking that far ahead. “It’s a lengthy journey. The One-Day International World Cup is almost approaching. And sometimes losing is beneficial. You will learn a lot. And a special thanks to all the boys. They were full of personality. “Winning and losing are both part of the process, and we’ll make sure we learn from both,” the all-rounder stated.

However, the skipper was in full praise to youngsters Tilak Varma and Yashasvi Jaiswal who made their debuts at the Windies tour. “They’ve got heart.
That is something that’s very important in international cricket. Every youngster coming through has belief. That’s something I see very often now. Kudos to them, they came out and took responsibility. I can’t be happier as a captain,” he concluded.
