A 20-year-old youth died and four others sustained injuries in a road accident near Dharmoti Batara, on the road between Gowari and Juloo Shingini in Doda district on Sunday.
An official said the incident occurred when the driver of a vehicle, bearing registration number JK06B-4629, lost control and the vehicle rolled off the road.
In the incident, one passenger died on the spot, while four others were seriously injured and shifted to GMC Doda for treatment.
The deceased has been identified as Shakeel Ahmed(20), son of Mohd Sain, a resident of Juloo. The injured are Mohd Arif(20), son of Bashir Ahmed, Shabir Ahmed(20), son of Shair Mohd, both residents of Shingni; Mahesh Kumar,(26), a resident of Julo; and Sayam(18), son of Shair Mohd, also a resident of Shingni.
The official said, “An FIR No. 111/2024 under sections 281/125(a)/106 BNS has been registered at the police station, and an investigation into the accident has been initiated.”
