Amar Singh College, Srinagar today conducted a one day awareness workshop on PMUSPY-Pradhan Mantri Uchchatar Shiksha Protsahan formerly known as Prime Ministers Special Scholarship Scheme (PMSSS) 2023-24, for the students of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh.
The workshop was inaugurated by Director Colleges, HED, Prof. (Dr) Yasmeen Ashai in presence of Chairman AICTE, Prof. T.G. Sitharam & Director SAGB, AICTE, Kunal Jeet Singh and other high officials of the AICTE.
In her inaugural address, Prof. Ashai, extended her gratitude to AICTE and said that AICTE has always been on toes for the development and upliftment of J&K youth and has provided the scholarships to thousands of students from J&K UT, who have been immensely benefited from the scheme.
Chairman AICTE, Prof. T.G. Sitharam & Director SAGB, AICTE, Sh. Kunal Jeet Singh, in their separate special addresses to the participants maintained that AICTE is always in the process of standardizing and reforming the process of PMUSPY, to reach the unreached by making the process student friendly, the direct beneficiaries of scheme.
Prof. Sitharam, cautioned the students and parents from falling prey to the swindlers who operate phony consultancies.
The resource persons of the workshop include R.K.Ganju, Assistant Director, PMUSPY and Prof. Ajeet Angral, Consultant PMUSPY. Through their presentations they provided a detailed description regarding, eligibility, registration, application submission, admission, error handling and course selection and deliberated upon the do’s and do-nots of the scheme.
Prof Angral further maintained that PMUSPY is a revolutionary scholarship programme which has ensured equal opportunity for students of J&K to study at the prestigious colleges of the country.
Principal of the host college, Prof. Sheikh Ajaz Bashir extended his gratitude to Prof. T.G. Sitharam, Chairman AICTE, Kunal Jeet Singh, Director, SAGB, AICTE, Prof. Ajeet Angral, R.K. Ganju and other dignitaries, who graced the occasion. He was all grateful to Chief Patron of workshop Principal Secretary HED Alok Kumar for his dynamic leadership & extended his special thanks to Director Colleges, HED, Prof. (Dr) Yasmeen Ashai for her untiring support and presence.
At the outset of the workshop, Prof. Nayeem Ahmad Khan presented formal welcome address and the proceedings of the workshop were conducted by Basharat Shameem, Astt. Professor English whereas formal vote of thanks was presented by Arshad Ahmad Yatoo, Asstt. Professor Computer Applications. Owais Shafi the Nodal Officer of the college coordinated the workshop.
