In his Republic Day address at Bakshi Stadium, Srinagar, Choudhary emphasized the government’s commitment to delivering on its promises. Acknowledging the legacy of Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah, Choudhary commended his efforts to strengthen the constitution in Jammu and Kashmir. He further noted that Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has been following in the footsteps of his father, Farooq Abdullah, and grandfather, Sheikh Abdullah, to ensure a progressive and prosperous Jammu and Kashmir.
“The recent elections witnessed an overwhelming voter turnout, reflecting the trust people have placed in us based on our promises. We are committed to fulfilling these promises, and the Omar Abdullah-led government is working tirelessly to address issues like increasing the ration quota, generating employment, and more,” Choudhary stated.
Regarding the return of Kashmiri Pandits, the Deputy Chief Minister expressed deep concern over their exodus, adding that the government is taking active steps to facilitate their return. “We are working round the clock to ensure the safe return of the Kashmiri Pandit community to the Valley, and we are confident our efforts will bear fruit soon,” he said.
Choudhary also highlighted the growing menace of drug abuse, labeling it as a significant threat to society. He called for collective action to combat the issue. “The government is implementing stringent measures, but combating this challenge requires joint efforts from all sections of society, especially the youth. Together, we can eliminate this devastating menace and protect our future,” he added.
Concluding his speech, the Deputy Chief Minister urged citizens to pledge to build a stronger, more independent Jammu and Kashmir and contribute to making India more beautiful.
