Nurse nabbed for carrying out illegal abortion in Jammu

A nurse, who is working at a government primary health centre in Budhi village of Kathua, has been nabbed on Saturday for her alleged involvement in illegal termination of a pregnant minor girl at her house in Ward No.6 of Billawar area of Kathua.

According to report, Kamlesh Kumari has been caught red-handed by a raid team while she was conducting illegal abortion of a minor girl at her house in Billawar area of Kathua taking leave from her official work.

A police team headed by Incharge police station Billawar, Jatinder Singh raided the nurse’s home after the police received a tip-off that she was misusing her official position to conduct illegal termination of pregnancy at her home in Billawar area of Kathua.


A case has been registered under relevant sections of the IPC at Billawar police station and the police is probing how the accused nurse took absent from her place of work in Budhi and went to her house in Billawar to conduct illicit abortion.

The police has said that they are expecting several more arrests in this case and a thorough probe has been ordered in this regard.
