The Northern Command Investiture Ceremony took place in Mathura to recognize acts of bravery, outstanding service, and remarkable performance by units in the Northern Theatre. Lt Gen MV Suchindra Kumar, GOC-in-C of the Northern Command, awarded 38 Sena Medals (Gallantry), 5 Sena Medals (Distinguished), 2 Yudh Seva Medals, and 10 Vishisht Seva Medals, along with GOC-in-C Unit Recognitions.

He praised the courage and commitment of officers, JCOs, and Jawans, emphasizing their contribution to fortifying the Northern Army. The General additionally guaranteed Veer Naris of ongoing Army assistance and encouraged all personnel to stay alert.

Prominent recipients included Major Prasoon Pandey (Ladakh Scouts) for aiding a medical evacuation crew under UN peacekeeping, Major Laldingngheta (Madras Regiment) for thwarting an infiltration attempt despite sustaining injuries, and Captain Rohan Rabindra Hanagi (EME) for retrieving trapped soldiers in Siachen. Sepoy Tarachand Ranwa and Sepoy Muttu Sappuri (Rashtriya Rifles) received accolades for neutralizing terrorists in J&K, whereas Naik Lalhmangaihsanga Chinzah (Assam Regiment) rescued his severely ill post commander. In addition to the individual awardees, Units from the northern command received Unit Citations for their outstanding performances. Prominent among them were RR Battalions stationed in the valley, along with One Assam Rifles battalion assigned to Ganderbal district. The Assam Rifles battalion successfully addressed all the operational challenges posed by limited exposure to the valley and provided commendable service to the valley’s residents by maintaining vigilance while simultaneously engaging with them to offer support and opportunities for a promising future ahead.

The ceremony highlighted the Northern Command’s state of readiness in line with its motto, Always in Combat, while it protects national borders and addresses terrorism. Conducted with the ‘Go Green’ theme, the event highlighted sustainability by utilizing recycled materials and environmentally friendly transportation.
