Bandipora, Feb 17: The Gurez Valley in Bandipora district of north Kashmir experienced moderate snowfall overnight, providing relief to the locals.

As per the locals, the centrally situated Dawar got almost 9 inches of snow, whereas the distant tehsil of Tulail had relatively less, with about 5 to 6 inches.

The Razdan Pass became covered in snow, resulting in its shutdown. SDM Gurez, Mukhtar Ahmad reported that 5 to 8 inches of snowfall occurred.

In the meantime, the residents expressed varied responses to the season’s second moderate snowfall. “This is undoubtedly the second light snowfall of the season and a relief, but overall, the season has been quite dry,” said Owais Khan Gujjar from Gujjran village.

He stated that the region had gotten five inches of snow. “It is much lower than what we typically see in the winter,” he remarked.

Another local, Mustafa Zameer, mentioned, “The depth of the snow was impressive, nearly about one foot.” “It pales in comparison to the snow that Gurez gets.”
