Nitish Kumar promoted as ADGP CID, Anand Jain as ADGP Jammu

The J&K Government yesterday promoted senior Indian Police Service (IPS) officers, Nitish Kumar as Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) CID and Anand Jain as ADGP Jammu Zone.

According to the order, the officers would continue in the present position, with the post declared equivalent in rank and status to that of ADGP, till held by them.

In December last year, the MHA elevated officers in a major reshuffle within IPS ranks that included Kumar and Jain.

They were promoted as ADGPs.

In March last year after his return from the NIA, Kumar, who was IG Investigations at the NIA Headquarters in New Delhi, was posted as IG CID in place of Mahendra Nath Tiwari.

Kumar, one of the decorated officers of J&K Police, has served in Kashmir in various capacities and has vast experience, particularly in dealing with terrorism.

He has served as SP Handwara, SSP Pulwama, SSP Anantnag, DIG South and North Kashmir, besides stints in NIA and other central agencies.

Jain, also a decorated IPS officer, has also served in J&K in many capacities as SSP Baramulla and Director ACB.
