The team of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) is set to visit Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch, where five Indian Army soldiers were killed in a terrorist attack on a truck on Thursday. An NIA team, including a Deputy Inspector General and Superintendent of Police rank officers, is expected to visit the spot later on Friday along with a team of forensic experts to collect preliminary details of the incident that shocked the nation.
Meanwhile, a bomb disposal squad and Special Operations Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir Police reached the spot at Poonch’s Bhimber Gali, where five soldiers had lost their lives in the terror attack.
A massive search operation was launched on Friday morning in the forests of Jammu and Kashmir’s Bata-Doria area to trace the terrorists who attacked an army vehicle in Poonch, in which five soldiers were killed.
The deceased soldiers have been identified as Havildar Mandeep Singh, Lance Naik Debashish Baswal, Lance Naik Kulwant Singh, Sepoy Harkishan Singh and Sepoy Sevak Singh, who were attached to the Rashtriya Rifles unit of the army and were deployed for anti-terrorist operations in the area .
The incident took place after terrorists rammed an army vehicle in Jammu’s Rajouri sector, killing five soldiers and injuring another. A manhunt was launched to trace the culprits, but so far there is no clarity on the attackers.
“Unidentified assailants took advantage of heavy rain and low visibility in the area,” the army said in a statement on Thursday. Army truck caught fire due to possible grenade attack. The army vehicle was going from Bhimber Gali towards Sangyot in Poonch district.
