Netflix is expanding its range of services beyond streaming and gaming into the food industry. In a press release on Tuesday, the popular streaming platform announced the upcoming opening of a temporary restaurant in Los Angeles called ‘Netflix Bites’. Set to launch on June 30, the restaurant will feature dishes prepared by renowned chefs from popular Netflix cooking shows such as ‘Chef’s Table’, ‘Is It Cake?’, ‘Nailed It!’, and ‘Iron Chef: Quest for an Iron Legend’.
Famous culinary experts like Curtis Stone, Dominique Crenn, Rodney Scott, Ming Tsai, Ann Kim, Nadiya Hussain, Jacques Torres, and Andrew Zimmern will be among the talented names creating delectable treats at ‘Netflix Bites’.
Fans of Netflix’s cooking shows will have the opportunity to taste their favorite dishes from the screen at the Short Stories Hotel, located at 115 S. Fairfax Ave. Reservations can be made via www.netflixbites.com and require a nonrefundable deposit of $25 per person, which will be deducted from the final bill.
The dining experience will be elevated, and guests can also enjoy custom cocktails prepared by mixologists featured in the show ‘Drink Masters’, including Frankie Solarik, Julie Reiner, LP O’Brien, and Kate Gerwin. However, it should be noted that the chefs themselves will not be present at the venue for meet and greets, as stated by Netflix.
The pop-up restaurant will operate for a duration of two weeks, from 5-10 pm every day, with a special brunch menu available from 10 am – 2 pm on weekends.
Michelin-starred chef Curtis Stone expressed her excitement about the project, describing it as one of the biggest thrills of her life. She mentioned her involvement through her team at Curtis Stone Events in bringing ‘Netflix Bites’ to life.
Josh Simon, the vice president of consumer products at Netflix, shared his enthusiasm about collaborating with these talented chefs to create a remarkable gastronomic adventure. In a statement quoted by Bloomberg, Simon said, “From episode to entree, with NETFLIX BITES, we are creating an in-person experience where fans can immerse themselves in their favorite food shows.”
As of now, Netflix has not disclosed the menu items or pricing details for ‘Netflix Bites’.
This venture into the food industry is not the first time Netflix has offered screen-to-life experiences. The streaming platform has previously introduced immersive experiences like the ‘Queen’s Ball’ inspired by Bridgerton, as well as pop-up stores based on shows such as ‘Stranger Things’, ‘Money Heist’, and ‘Squid Game’, including a retail store located at The Grove shopping mall.
