Nehru Yuva Kendra Kargil today organized a day-long Neighbourhood Youth Parliament programme at Syed Mehdi Memorial Hall, Kargil.
Chairman and CEC, LAHDC, Kargil Feroz Ahmad Khan was the chief guest on the occasion and Deputy Commissioner and CEO, LAHDC, Kargil Santosh Sukhdeve was the guest of honour on the occasion.
CEC, Feroz in his address, thanked Nehru Yuva Kendra Kargil for organising such an event and also suggested to organize such a youth parliament at the block level to educate about contemporary socio-economic development issues confronting local communities in general and the youth in particular and to involve them in debates/ and discussions.
CEC also threw light on the importance of preserving ethenic foods and urged the youth to revive the traditional culture food and to study about climate change and disaster risk reductions.
CEC Feroz also informed that Kargil is dependent on glacier water and the weather changes abrubly to which the youths must be informed or aware of its precautionary measures.
DC, Kargil appreciated the organising committee and advised the youth to take maximum benefits of the platform to realise their leadership potential.
The DC thanked all the resource persons for delivering their lectures on various topics.
During the occasion, mementoes were also distributed.
A large number of participants both male and female from different private and govt schools were present in the said programme.
Later, District Youth Coordinator, NYK, Jigmet Spalzon delivered the vote of thanks.
