NEET-UG result 2024: The SC permits reexamination and annulment of the NEET results for 1563 candidates

The National Testing Agency (NTA)’s decision to award grace marks to 1,563 NEET-UG 2024 candidates has been revoked, the Center informed the Supreme Court on Thursday. The students will have the opportunity to reapply for the exam on June 23.

Petitioners pertaining to the NEET-UG, 2024 exam controversy for admission to MBBS, BDS, and other courses were being heard by the Supreme Court.

The government informed the court that in order to make up for the time lost during the NEET-UG application process, a committee has been formed to examine the outcomes of more than 1,563 candidates who received “grace marks.”

“The Committee has taken a decision to cancel the scorecards of 1,563 NEET-UG 2024 candidates who were given grace marks and these students will be given the option to take a re-test, SC informed. Exams will be conducted on June 23 and results will be declared before June 30,” (National Testing Agency) NTA told the apex court.
Counselling for admission in MBBS, BDS, and other courses will start on July 6, NTA said.

As for the NEET-UG exam, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has stated that there is no proof of a paper leak.

The NTA’s statement regarding the retest has been recorded by the Supreme Court.
It was also emphasized that the counseling procedure will not continue.

“Counselling will go on and we will not stop it. If the exam goes then everything goes in totality so nothing to fear,” the top court said.

According to the plea submitted against the NTA, there were several paper leaks and other irregularities during the May 5 exam.

It claimed that the purported paper leak violated Article 14 of the Constitution, which guarantees the right to equality, by giving certain candidates an unfair advantage over others who choose to take the test fairly.

The Aam Aadmi Party and the Congress are among the opposition parties that have brought attention to the purported anomalies. While Priyanka Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, and KC Venugopal, among other Congress leaders, accused corruption and paper leaks, the AAP asked a SIT probe overseen by the Supreme Court into the matter.
