National Conference General Secretary Ali Muhammad Sagar on Monday thanked people for voting in large numbers in the three Parliamentary seats of Baramulla, Srinagar and Anantnag-Rajouri.
In a statement, Sagar said the impressive turn out in the just concluded elections has again shown that people of J&K have embraced democracy and reasserted their stake in government formation. “This significant participation of people in elections is a telling testament to the robust democratic spirit and civic engagement of the people in the region. Given the impressive turn out, it is important to hold the assembly polls as soon as possible. This must be a priority for the next government in Delhi, and could be the first step to restoration of statehood as well,” he said.
