The probe into the blast at Rameshwaram Cafe in Bengaluru has been handed over to the National Investigation Agency (NIA), sources said on Monday.

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) will probe Bengaluru Rameshwaram Cafe blast case, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has said. The anti-terror agency has registered a case in connection with the blast, which left at least 10 people injured on Friday. Bengaluru Police and Central Crime Branch were previously investigating the low-intensity bomb blast at the popular eatery in Whitefield, but no arrests have been made yet.

Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah earlier stated that the government may consider transferring the Rameshwaram Café blast case to the NIA if necessary. He said, “We will see. The investigation has just begun. No accused has been arrested yet. We will see if the need arises (for NIA investigation).”
The injured are currently receiving treatment at multiple private hospitals, with the Karnataka government announcing the state will bear the cost. In connection with the incident, Bengaluru Police lodged an investigation under the draconian Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and the Explosives Substances Act. The prime suspect in the case, a man wearing a cap, mask, and glasses, remains untraceable.
