“National Conference Legislature Party Meeting on Government Formation Scheduled for Today”

The National Conference (NC) Legislature Party meeting will be held tomorrow to discuss the Government formation with its pre-poll alliance partner Indian National Congress.
A communication has been sent to all the Members of Legislative Assembly of the party and those Independent legislators who are joining the party will also be present in the meeting. The meeting is scheduled in the afternoon and it will elect the leader of the Legislature Party.
The meeting besides this will also discuss the Government formation with its alliance partner Congress. The legislators will also discuss the Common Minimum Programme.
Meanwhile, the AICC (I) observers are also reaching Srinagar to preside over meeting of the Congress Legislature Party to elect the CLP leader.
They will also discuss the issue of formation of the Government with the NC.
Congress has won six seats-five in Kashmir and one in  Jammu.
After Legislature Party leaders of both NC and Congress are elected, the Alliance partners will elect their joint leader who will be the next Chief Minister.
Vice president of the NC Omar Abdullah told reporters here on the Government formation that the first step would be the Legislative Party meeting that is scheduled for tomorrow.
“After that, there will be an Alliance meeting to determine the leader. The leader will then gather letters of support, approach Raj Bhawan, and request the LG to set a date for the swearing-in. We hope this happens as soon as possible because the region has been without an elected Government since 2018. It is time to get back to work,” he said.
“I assume the Congress party will do their own meeting. There will have to be an Alliance meeting because at the end of the day, we will have to go to the LG with letters of support. Once we have the letters of support in place, the leadership of the Alliance settled then that person would go to the Raj Bhavan, meet the LG and ask him to fix a time for the swearing in ceremony,” the NC leader said.
