Regional Directorate of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, J&K, (GoI) in collaboration with Directorate of Skill Development J&K organized “National Apprenticeship Awareness Workshop” at J&K Academy of Art, Culture & Languages to create awareness among youth/Establishments about Apprenticeship Scheme.
Deputy Commissioner, Jammu Avny Lavasa, who was present during the concluding session, hailed the organizing of the workshop and advised to conduct more such orientation programs to encourage skill up-gradation to meet requirement of qualified workforce for Industry.
“The Apprenticeship Scheme aims to provide a mechanism that will ensure availability of qualified skilled workers based on industry requirements and also can address the unemployment issue among educated youth” she added.
Chairman, Bari Brahamana, Industries Association Lalit Mahajan was also present on this occasion. He welcomed the support provided by the Government of India to the Industries.
S. Santhimanalan- Regional Director/Central Apprenticeship Advisor, J&K and Ladakh highlighted the benefits of apprenticeship schemes and opportunities by the Govt. of India. The Workshop, he said, focused on the registration of establishments in the J&K UT and advised the representatives of industries to accommodate ITI pass-outs /trainees under the Apprenticeship Act. He appreciated the efforts for organizing District Level Workshops for the benefit of youths of the district through Apprenticeship Scheme.
Deputy Director, NSTI, Srinagar V.K Saksena briefed about the Apprentice scheme with PowerPoint presentation during the event and also highlighted the recent up-dation in Apprentice Scheme. He briefed the stakeholders about the benefits of the scheme and requested to engage Apprentice trainees from the remote areas to address the issue of unemployment.
Sunil Kumar, Assistant Director, BOAT (Northern Region) apprised about the achievements in the Apprentice Scheme. He advised establishments to register themselves on Apprenticeship portal to avail the benefits of this National Apprenticeship Scheme and thanked the establishment for their support in providing opportunities to the candidates. He also presented the vote of thanks to all dignitaries, staff, media persons and other stakeholders in organizing the event for a better tomorrow with good skills.
The event was inaugurated by ADDC Jammu Ramesh Chandra. He highlighted the achievements of RDSDE, J&K as well as Skill Development Department J&K in making this Apprenticeship Workshop successful and lauded their role for the betterment of the youth of JKUT, in his address.
The program concluded with vote of thanks by Gurmeet Singh, Assistant Director, RDSDE, Jammu.
