Delhi Capitals were the hapless recipients of this spectacular mauling on a belter of a pitch at Visakhapatnam on Wednesday, guilty of dropping catches, bowling wide, high, all over the place really till it didn’t matter anymore. Defeat came in the form of a 106-run thrashing, but it could have been worse had Rishabh Pant and Tristan Stubbs hadn’t dug in their heels with resilient fifties.
Sunil Narine produced a six-hitting exhibition to score a blistering 85 while Raghuvanshi scored a fifty on his IPL batting debut. The former punished all Delhi bowlers alike, sending the ball over the boundary rope seven times. He also hit seven fours in his 39-ball stay. Delhi were guilty of dropping him on 53 and Narine made his opponents suffer as he notched his highest-ever score in T20 cricket.
Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) altered the record books last night, registering the second-highest team total in the history of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The likes of Sunil Narine, Angkrish Raghuvanshi, Andre Russell and Rinku Sigh wreaked havoc at the ACA-VDA stadium in Visakhapatnam, helping KKR post 272/7 in 20 over. The Knight Riders beat their previous highest total – 245/6, against Punjab Kings in 2018, to set a new record.
