Nanak Chak accident: Locals expressed anger over deaths
The locals in Nanak Chak area of Samba yesterday expressed anger over the deaths of two young men, who lost their lives in a grisly road mishap that happened on November 11.
The deceased were identified as Romi Kumar (26) s/o Ashok Kumar r/o Badheri village of Samba and Sushil Kumar s/o Mansukh Dayal r/o Nanakchak, langat of Samba.
The incident happened when a trolley-truck passing by the Nanak Chak area lost its control and it fall onto and crushed the car in which the two men were travelling. One of the men was married one day before the accident. On the day of accident he was going for his reception party but he died before reaching there.
Earlier, several cases of accidents has been registered in this area. Many people had lost their lives and some people had been injured.
Several people have shown aggression regarding the increasing cases of accidents in this area. The locals have alleged that there is a railway bridge in Nanak Chak where there is construction of underpass and this construction is going on since two decades but still the construction is incomplete. The people of Nanak Chak are not letting their family members out of their houses after 5 pm, the report said.
Mr Ramesh, a local said, “Everyone is mourning and sad because the deceased was starting a new chapter of his life. His wife was waiting for him in beauty parlour but because of the incomplete construction of underpass and single stretch road we lost two lives. Let us assume both the railway authority as well as the highway authority are responsible for this case but it is also the duty of civil administration since they also go by this road once or twice in a month but why they never showed concerned about the incomplete construction of the underpass? This area has become the ‘house of deaths’. I am requesting every authority either it is LG or the civil administration to look into this matter and solve this issue as soon as possible. If they will not take any action then forcefully we all with our family members will block this road and then government shouldn’t say that we are violating rules.”
“I have talked to the national authority incharge of this region,Vaishnav Ji, he told me that they have written a letter to the higher authority to get permission to block the road for 1 week and now they are saying that they have asked for the permission to block the road for 8 hours but they have not even written that letter. When will they write the letter; when will they get the permission.
“There is no guarantee. Do you think this situation which exists since 19 years and now even if they will write the letter, will they get permission? That’s why I am appealing to the national highway authority and the railway authority to not make this area ‘Maut ka Kuan’ (Well of Death). Many people have died before ,many had injured and other are handicapped because of the mishaps. So please look into this matter as soon as possible. I am requesting the DC to personally look into this matter and also LG sir to look into this case,” he further added.
