Former Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray launched a scathing attack against the BJP days after the Election Commission allotted Shiv Sena name and “bow and arrow” poll symbol to the Eknath Shinde-led faction. Uddhav Thackeray said that his father, late Bal Thackeray, did not teach him to be “a slave”, but taught him to “fight injustice”.
“In 2014, it was the BJP who broke the alliance with the Shiv Sena. Later, they needed Shiv Sena’s help. Amit Shah came to my home and he had made a promise to me (on CM post). And I had asked this only because I had promised Balasaheb that there will be a Shiv Sena CM one day,” Uddhav Thackeray said while addressing an event in Mumbai. He added, “That time, Amit Shah said okay. But whatever has happened after that ‘okay’, you all can see. Today, some of our people have put collars around them and gone to the BJP. But my father never taught me slavery. My father taught me to fight injustice.”
