The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for Mumbai on Thursday morning. It has also issued a red alert for Thane, Palghar and Raigad districts on Thursday and a red alert in Palghar on Friday. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has declared a holiday for all schools and colleges today. Heavy rain battered the city and its suburbs on Wednesday evening, causing waterlogging in several regions. A woman died due to drowning in Andheri on Wednesday evening. Rain is predicted in Mumbai till October 1, according to the IMD.
