Mudslide in China killed 21: Around 6 p.m. on Friday, severe rain, mountain floods, and mudslides hit a village in Chang, a district in Xi’an. The disaster has damaged two residences and 21 sections of National Highway 210.

Furthermore, the tragedy has destroyed three electric power supply infrastructures and has left 900 families without electricity, according to the Global Times, quoting the Xi’an Bureau of Emergency Management. Xi’an promptly established an onsite command centre and dispatched 14 rescue teams, including firefighting and police agencies, totaling over 980 individuals, to conduct search, rescue, and disaster relief operations.

186 individuals had been relocated and resettled as of Sunday evening, and three seriously damaged parts of National Highway 210 had been rebuilt. Work is being done on 21 minor road sections, and communication services have been restored in 49 afflicted areas. Meanwhile, power has been restored to 855 families.

According to preliminary findings, two buildings in the village were wiped away, as well as neighbouring roads, bridges, power supply, and other infrastructure. The Xi’an detachment of Shaanxi’s armed police force dispatched over 100 personnel to the affected region. In the affected area, preliminary search and rescue operations are underway.

In addition, 1,100 pieces of equipment and tools, such as life detectors, satellite phones, excavators, and search and rescue dogs, have been dispatched to perform search, rescue, and disaster assistance activities.
