MS Dhoni provided the spark that the thousands of Chennai Super Kings fans at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad had hoped for in the IPL 2023 opener against Gujarat Titans. Dhoni hit a six and a four in his 7-ball cameo of 14 runs as he provided the much-needed impetus to CSK in the final two overs of their innings in the season opener on Friday, March 31.
MS Dhoni was in the mood as he hit Joshua Little, who became Ireland’s first player to play in the IPL, into the fence twice in the final over. Dhoni remained unbeaten on 14 from 7 deliveries as Chennai Super Kings posted 178 in 20 overs. Ruturaj Gaikwad hit a 50-ball 92 but CSK had slowed down after the 10-over mark, losing wickets in regular intervals. However, Dhoni provided the perfect finishing touch as CSK fans at the world’s biggest cricket stadium roared in delight.
