Ganderbal : Member of Parliament Mian Altaf Ahmad has expressed his gratitude to the central government for sanctioning developmental projects worth ₹10,600 crore for Jammu and Kashmir, calling them a “welcome step” and crucial for the region’s progress.

“These projects are important for the people of J&K. They will address key infrastructure gaps and boost employment and connectivity,” said Mian Altaf while speaking to reporters.

In a sharp political remark, he also urged former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to come clean about his stand regarding the current state of governance. “Omar Abdullah should clarify his position on the role and functioning of his government,” he said, without elaborating further.

On the upcoming Amarnath Yatra, he lauded the efforts being made by local administrations. “Both Anantnag and Ganderbal administrations are making proper arrangements. Yatris will be provided with good facilities and there is adequate security in place,” he said.

He added that local people are welcoming and eager to host the pilgrims, hoping for a significant influx of tourists during the Yatra season.

“The people here want tourists to come in large numbers. Locals will greet them with warmth and hospitality,” he assured.
