Monsoon mayhem: Flood-like situation in Gujarat, heavy rain alert in Uttarakhand

Monsoon mayhem: The weather department has issued an orange alert for certain parts of Uttarakhand till July 5, indicating the possibility of heavy rainfall. Similarly, it has also predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall in Goa till July 4. Although the monsoon was delayed this year, its onset has led to waterlogging, floods and fatalities in many parts of the country.

Here’s a look at the rain forecast by the Met department for the next five days.

The Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for Kumaon and other districts of Uttarakhand from July 1 to July 5. This indicates the possibility of heavy rainfall.

Heavy rains have caused flooding in low-lying areas, both in cities and villages. According to the State Emergency Operations Centre (SEOC), nine people have lost their lives in rain-related incidents in the last two days. The central and state governments have assured their support in the affected districts of Kutch, Jamnagar, Junagadh, and Navsari.

Monsoon mayhem: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted a generally cloudy sky with light rain for Sunday. The maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to be around 36 and 25 degrees Celsius, respectively. Meanwhile, isolated heavy rainfall is very likely over East Uttar Pradesh during July 4 to July 6 and in West Uttar Pradesh on July 5 and 6.

The IMD on Sunday also said that monsoon will advance over the remaining parts of Rajasthan, Haryana and Punjab in the next two days.

GOA

The IMD has forecast heavy to very heavy rainfall for parts of Goa until July 4. The coastal state has already experienced continuous showers, causing waterlogging in several areas.

ASSAM, WEST BENGAL, SIKKIM

Light to moderate rainfall with isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall is very likely over West Bengal, Sikkim, Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh during the next 5 days, as per the weather department.
