Bhartiya Janta Party National General Secretary Tarun Chugh said that the Prime Minister Narendra Modi decision to recognise Pali as a Classical Language will go a long way in restoring respect to the age-olld tradition of the region of Leh Ladaakh
Speaking at a conference on Pali language and Buddhism organized by the All Ladakh Gonpa Association (ALGA) in Leh, Chugh also appreciated the organizers for their commendable efforts in promoting this initiative.
Highlighting the universal values of peace and non-violence championed by Lord Buddha, Chugh lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s unwavering commitment to spreading Buddhist philosophy on a global platform. He urged everyone to continue advocating for Lord Buddha’s teachings, which hold immense relevance in today’s world.
Dr. Anirban Ganguly, Chairman of the Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee Research Foundation (SPMRF), a New Delhi-based think tank, also addressed the gathering. Dr. Ganguly underscored the significance of Lord Buddha’s teachings and applauded PM Modi’s dedication to preserving and promoting India’s Buddhist heritage.
The event was graced by His Eminence Drukpa Thuksey Rinpoche, who attended as the Chief Guest. On behalf of ALGA, His Eminence presented an appreciation letter to PM Narendra Modi, which was conveyed through Tarun Chugh, in recognition of the decision to include Pali as a Classical Language. Furthermore, a memorandum was submitted to the Prime Minister, requesting the inclusion of Bhoti in the 8th Schedule of the Indian Constitution.
