Modi Govt’s top priority to ensure safety of people in J&K, says MHA

The Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) today said Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led Government’s top priority is ensuring safety of the people of Jammu and Kashmir and the zero tolerance against terrorism has helped in creating safe and peaceful environment in the Union Territory.

The Home Ministry released a series of posts on X ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Kashmir on March 7, his first to the Valley after abrogation of Article 370 of the Constitution of India granting special status to erstwhile State and division into two Union Territories of J&K and Ladakh.

“Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led Government’s top priority is ensuring safety of people of Jammu and Kashmir. Abrogation of Article 370 and policy of zero tolerance against terrorism have helped creating safe environment in Jammu and Kashmir,” the MHA said.
It tagged two photographs of Kashmir including one titled `Shops Closed due to Curfew’ and another with heading `Surge of Tourists in Kashmir’ and wrote `The Difference is Clear’.

“After abrogation of Article 370, Jammu and Kashmir has witnessed peace and unprecedented development,” the MHA said quoting the Prime Minister.
The MHA posts said during last 10 years of Narendra Modi Government, there has been reduction in number of terrorist initiated incidents, civilian deaths and killing of security personnel.

“There has been 100 percent decrease in stone pelting incidents, not a single incident of stone pelting was reported in 2023. Civilian deaths are down by 81 percent, terror incidents by 69 percent and security personnel’s killings have gone down by 47 percent,” the Home Ministry said.

During his visit to Kashmir, the Prime Minister will inaugurate Integrated Development of Hazratbal shrine under PRASAD Scheme and Ski Drag Lift at Sonamarg among other projects/schemes.
