Gulmarg, June 5: On the occasion of World Environment Day, Hon’ble MLA Farooq Ahmad Shah flagged off an awareness rally organized by the District Pollution Control Board in collaboration with Municipal Committee Tangmarg. The rally focused on promoting environmental conservation, encouraging clean and green practices, and spreading the message of keeping Gulmarg neat and pollution-free.
Speaking at the event, Mr. Shah emphasized the importance of maintaining Gulmarg’s natural beauty and urged the public to take collective responsibility in preserving the environment.
Later, MLA Gulmarg held an important meeting with trade unions and tourism stakeholders, emphasizing the need to make joint efforts for the revival of tourism. He announced that a three-day Gulmarg Festival will soon be organized to boost tourism and bring more visitors to the area.
Appealing to all people associated with the tourism sector, Mr. Shah urged them to actively support the smooth conduct of the upcoming Amarnath Yatra, so that devotees return with a positive experience, which will further help in reviving local tourism.
“Mr. Shah also informed that the Gulmarg Golf Course will open on June 24th, and a Golf Championship will be held on the same day, adding yet another highlight to the region’s tourism offerings.
As part of preparations for Eid-ul-Adha, he directed the BDOs and Executive Officers of Kunzer and Tangmarg Municipalities to ensure the cleanliness of all Eidgah across Gulmarg Constituency.
He also instructed the Sheep and Animal Husbandry Department to inspect all livestock sale points to ensure that rates are maintained as per the government approved prices.
Additionally, he directed the Power Development Department (PDD) to ensure electricity supply as per schedule without any disruption.
The meeting was attended by CEO Gulmarg, SDM Gulmarg, Tehsildars of Tangmarg and Kunzer, XEN R&B, and other senior officers.
