Srinagar, Jan 23: Member of the Minority Commission, Rouble Nagi, emphasized the commission’s ongoing efforts to ensure equal rights and protection for all minority communities residing in Kashmir.
Speaking at a press conference in Srinagar today, Nagi outlined the commission’s key objectives, which include safeguarding the cultural, social, and economic rights of minorities and ensuring they have access to all government benefits and services.
Nagi highlighted that the Minority Commission is dedicated to addressing the concerns of marginalised groups, ensuring that they are not deprived of their rights or opportunities. She acknowledged the challenges faced by minorities in the Valley but assured that the commission is actively working to create a more inclusive environment. “We are committed to providing minorities with equal representation in government bodies and ensuring that they receive a fair share of resources, which is essential for their social and economic growth,” she stated.
The commission, according to Nagi, is also focused on resolving issues related to property rights, access to education, and healthcare, and promoting their participation in community and political activities. She stressed the importance of protecting the religious and cultural identities of minorities, while also integrating them into the larger fabric of the society.
Furthermore, Nagi pointed out that the commission has been working on strengthening the relationship between minority communities and law enforcement agencies to ensure their safety and security. Efforts are being made to educate the public about the rights of minorities and dispel misconceptions that may exist.
“The Minority Commission is working tirelessly to ensure that every individual, regardless of their religious or cultural background, enjoys the same opportunities and protection under the law,” Nagi said. “We are committed to addressing any issues faced by minorities in Kashmir and will continue to advocate for their rights at all levels of governance.”
She also reiterated the importance of creating awareness within communities to promote tolerance, understanding, and respect for diverse cultures. “By fostering inter-community dialogue and cooperation, we aim to create a peaceful environment where every individual can live freely and without fear,” she added.
Rouble Nagi’s address comes at a time when there is increased focus on strengthening the rights of minorities in Jammu and Kashmir. The Minority Commission continues to work closely with local authorities, civil society organizations, and community leaders to create a more equitable and inclusive society for all.
