Senior National Conference (NC) leader and former minister Mian Altaf Ahmad today described as rumours the reports in media regarding him contesting the coming Lok Sabha polls from Anantnag-Rajouri-Poonch constituency.
The reports in media have been saying that NC will field him as its candidate for the constituency. Talking to Greater Kashmir, the five time Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) from Kangan and several time cabinet minister, Mian Altaf said that these reports are just rumours.
In some sections of media and on social media , it has appeared that I would be contesting the upcoming parliamentary election from Anantnag parliamentary seat, which is untrue and has no basis. I am not aware of any such thing, neither it has been discussed so far within the party, “he said.
The NC leader said that there was no truth in these reports. Mian Altaf said that the parliamentary board of the party (National Conference) will decide about the candidature for the upcoming Parliament elections whenever the elections are announced.
