MeT Forecasts Light Rains Amid Rising Temperatures in JK

While the weatherman has predicted light rains , the mercury continues to rise at multiple places across Jammu and Kashmir, with the maximum temperature in Srinagar,  the summer capital of the Union Territory, settling at 29.4 degrees Celsius.

Jammu, recorded the highest temperature among all stations, with the maximum temperature settling at 41.6 degrees Celsius.

Almost all stations in Kashmir have recorded maximum temperatures around 30 degrees Celsius. In Qazigund, the gateway of Kashmir, the mercury settled at 29.2 degrees Celsius, while Pahalgam, a famous tourist destination, recorded a maximum temperature of 24.6 degrees Celsius.

Kupwara and Kokernag stations recorded maximum temperatures of 28.2 degrees Celsius and 28.3 degrees Celsius, respectively.

Gulmarg, a famous ski resort, also recorded a rise in day temperature, with the mercury settling at 19.6 degrees Celsius.

Jammu division recorded temperatures above 30 degrees Celsius today. In Banihal, the mercury settled at 30.4 degrees Celsius, while Batote recorded a maximum temperature of 30.6 degrees Celsius.

Katra and Bhaderwah recorded maximum temperatures of 37.7 degrees Celsius and 31.8 degrees Celsius, respectively.

Meanwhile, Director of the Meteorological Department (MeT), Dr Mukhtar Ahmad, said that generally cloudy weather is expected, with the possibility of light rain and thunder at scattered places early tomorrow morning.

He added that the weather would remain generally dry from May 20 to May 27, with no forecast of any significant weather activity until May 27.

Moreover, farmers have been advised to resume farm operations from May 20, as hot and dry conditions are likely to prevail over the plains of the Jammu division.
