MeT Forecasts Dry Weather in Jammu and Kashmir

Amid forecasts for mainly dry weather from May 14 onwards, night temperatures dropped in Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday.

A meteorological department official said that while there is a possibility of isolated light to very light rain and gusty winds of 20 to 30 knots at a few places today, mainly dry weather is expected from May 14-18.

On May 19, he said, generally cloudy weather is expected with light rain/thunder at a few places towards the afternoon. From May 20-23, he said, generally dry weather is expected.

Regarding temperatures, the MeT official said that Srinagar recorded a low of 9.9°C against 12.6°C the previous night, which was 1.0°C below normal for the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir for this time of the year.

Qazigund recorded a minimum of 9.0°C against 10.8°C the previous night, and it was 0.3°C below normal for the gateway town of Kashmir, he said.
