Mercury levels in Delhi decrease: Rainfall throughout the night brought down the temperature in the Delhi-NCR region on Monday. The residents of Delhi-NCR woke up to a pleasant morning on Monday after rain along with gusty winds and thunderstorms lashed the city before sunrise. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued an alert for thunderstorms with light to moderate intensity rain and gusty winds over and adjoining areas of the entire Delhi and NCR, including areas like Ghaziabad, Noida, Gurugram, Faridabad, Sonipat and Rohtak among others.

This came a day after the maximum temperature in the national capital on Sunday settled at 35.7 degrees Celsius, five notches below the season’s average, according to IMD. The minimum temperature also settled at 23.6 degrees Celsius, three notches below the season’s average.

Mercury levels in Delhi decrease: The maximum and minimum temperatures on Monday are expected to settle even lower than the previous day’s numbers after rains lashed the city.

According to the IMD, the rainfall in Delhi is due to the presence of moderate to intense convection over Haryana which moved towards the Delhi-NCR region. The weather department on Saturday said that there is a possibility of thunderstorms in Delhi for the next 3-4 days.
