Mehbooba Mufti added, “I appeal to everyone to help the needy, downtrodden people on this occasion who have nothing and we should pray to Almighty for the Muslim Ummah whether in Palestine or in any part of the globe, who are facing hard times. We should pray to God to free Palestine and relieve the people of Jammu and Kashmir, who are going through a very difficult time”.
Eid-ul-Fitr marks the end of the fasting month of Ramzan.
In Kathua, a large number of people congregated at the Eidgah and offered namaz. The special Eid prayers drew large crowds.
People are greeting each other after the prayers and are taking part in the festivities. Shops in the city’s main markets, especially those around Masjid are doing brisk business as people shopped for the festival.
However, authorities did not allow Eid prayers at the historic Jamia Masjid in the old city, after allowing Fajr namaz and put MirWaiz Umar Farooq under house arrest.
The district administrations had made elaborate security and other necessary arrangements for the festival.
On the occasion of Eid today, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath today is coming to Kathua to address a rally there.
