Mayank Agarwal to lead Rest of India vs 2022 Ranji Trophy champion Madhya Pradesh

Karnataka skipper Mayank Agarwal, the leading run-getter of Ranji Trophy 2022/23 season, will lead Rest of India in the Irani Cup match against Madhya Pradesh. MP, the champion of 2021/22 and the semi-finalists of 2022/23 will be playing their match in Gwalior on 1 March.

Agarwal, who is currently out of the Test squad hit a mega 900+ run season which included 2 double centuries. He will possibly be partnering Bengal’s Abhimanyu Easwaran, who recently captained India A in Bangladesh.Mumbai batter Sarfaraz Khan is the most notable absentee in the 16-member ROI squad after sustaining a finger injury.

The match was initially scheduled to be played in Indore, but was shifted to Gwalior after the Holkar Stadium earned the right to host the third India-Australia Test, starting March 1.

Bengal batter Sudip Kumar Gharami, Yashasvi Jaiswal, B Indrajith and Yash Dhull will form the fulcrum of ROI’s batting unit.
