Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, the most senior member of the Rajya Sabha, and former Jharkhand Chief Minister Shibu Soren, who has held seats in both houses, have been invited to speak at an event in the Central Hall of Parliament. This gathering aims to honour India’s distinguished parliamentary history.
Leading the event will be Vice President and Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar, along with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla.
Other notable speakers at the function will include Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi, Rajya Sabha Leader of the House Piyush Goyal, Leader of the Opposition in the Upper House Mallikarjun Kharge, and Congress Leader in Lok Sabha Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury.
Senior-most Lok Sabha MP Maneka Gandhi has also received an invitation to address the gathering.
The event, lasting around one-and-a-half hours, will commence and conclude with the national anthem. Following this, prominent leaders will lead all Members of Parliament to the new Parliament building.
Before the Central Hall function, three separate group photographs will be taken in the inner courtyard of the old Parliament building. The first will feature MPs from both the Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha, the second will comprise Rajya Sabha members, and the third will include Lok Sabha members.
Lok Sabha proceedings will commence at 1:15 p.m., followed by the Rajya Sabha session at 2:15 p.m. in the new building.
